The NTZ is on the E side of Lundy island. It stretches north to Latitude  51 12.04N, south to Latitude 51 10.07N and east from Lundy’s shores to Longitude 004 39.00W

Project funding

Funding for the NTZ  monitoring program provided by DEFRA, English Nature, WWF,  and in kind donations from Plymouth University and the Marine Biological Association.

Rewilding methods

NTZ proposed by the Devon Sea Fisheries Committee and English Nature. Resultant statutory bylaw prohibited the taking of any living natural resource, including lobsters, crabs and fish.

Reefs, sea caves, sub-tidal sandbanks, small inter-tidal area

Target species

Soft, cup and gold star corals; pink sea-fan; and erect branching sponges; shellfish; grey seals

Access to the area

Divers are expected to act responsibly within the reserve and to adhere to the sign-posted bye-laws and code of conduct.
